CHRIS'S BEACON POINT RESTAURANT 280 Skenes Creek Road, Apollo Bay

Updated: Jun 9, 2018

If you're ever staying around the Apollo Bay area I recommend making the short ten minute drive to Skenes Creek to dine at Chris's #MelbourneRestaurants. Not only will you be rewarded with a beautiful view as the restaurant is located high up on the mountain overlooking the ocean #GreatOceanRoad but the food is decent there too. The cuisine is modern greek / mediterranean inspired.

As the Apollo Bay seafood festival was on during our stay I was fortunate enough to try for my main the grilled crayfish special with a lemon butter sauce and mashed potatoes and asparagus sides. The crayfish was so fresh you could tell it had just been caught that day. The meat was heavenly and cooked to perfection. The simple butter sauce was the perfect accompaniment as it allowed the lobster to really shine.

I would have preferred the mashed potatoes to be less lumpy and of a more smoother texture but it wasn't a deal breaker as it all tasted really nice together. I really loved this dish.

Lastly I finished off my dinner with a strawberry sorbet with poached strawberries in a rose petal syrup topped with meringues. The highlight for me was the sorbet though I felt the dessert as a whole could have used some relief as it was altogether too sweet.

Overall I really enjoyed the food and the dining experience at Chris's and if I am down that way again I will definitely drop in for another meal.
