APOLLO BAY BAKERY REVIEW 125 Great Ocean Road, Apollo Bay

Updated: Jun 9, 2018

No trip to Apollo Bay is complete unless you try the Apollo Bay Bakery's famous scallop pie. Along the Great Ocean Road this pie is almost as famous as the twelve apostles, well... not quite. The pie comes in two varieties. One with a mornay sauce and the other with a curry sauce.

The mornay pie was not as creamy and rich as you'd expect from this type of sauce. In fact I thought it was a little on the watery side which detracted from some of it's flavour, however the upside is that they are very generous with the amount of scallops in each pie. Both pies had about 3 or 4 whole ones in them. My favourite though was the curried scallop pie as there was a good curry hit and it was very tasty.

The bakery #MelbourneBakery is actually really great and worth stopping by for a quick bite to eat as they have a good selection of baked goods including other tasty pies (the beef burgundy pie was also yum), pasties, cakes, toasties, sandwiches and coffee.

It's also on the way to the twelve apostles so great for picking up some goodies as you make your way along the #GreatOceanRoad.
